MYCOTOXINS

About Aflatoxins

Aflatoxins are naturally occurring mycotoxins, which are highly toxic for humans and animals. The aflatoxins are produced by mold (e.g. Aspergillus flavus) as primary contaminants in various food and feed stuffs. Aflatoxins are found in nuts (e.g. peanuts, brazil nuts), figs, dates, cereals, dried paprika, spices and many other food of plant origin. The token of the aflatoxins is a combination of the color of the corresponding fluorescence (Blue or Green) and the relative chromatographic mobility.

Aflatoxin M1 (M = milk) is produced within the organism of animals from aflatoxin B1 after consumption with the feed and subsequently is found in milk.
