Pesticides are chemical substances which are consciously used by man in agriculture against crop damage caused by e.g. insects, fungi or worms.
They rang among the residues (in contrast to unintended contaminations) and are regulated by law in order to protect consumers or the animal respectively against health threats.
Unfortunately in both food and feed the permitted maximum levels are regularly exceeded. This often results from an application not being in accordance with the rules of “GAP – Good Agricultural Practice", the use of not accredited pesticides or an unintended contamination (nitrofen scandal in grain and bio products in 2002).
